Career Practice Tests – Critical Care Register Nurse (CCRN) is a high level of nursing specialization. The American Association of Critical Care Nurses sponsors the exams.
People who would like to work as a critical care rigister nurse will have to take a CCRN exam to obtain certification. The certification shows that the nurse is able to look after patients who find themselves in critical care with life threatening health problems. These patients require a high level of care; including monitoring, treatment and hands on interventions, more so than patients on any other ward.
The Critical Care Register Nurse exam is a 3 hour exam covering 150 multiple choice questions. The Critical Care Register Nurse exams focus on three general populations: adult, pediatric and neonatal patients in the following subject categories: Cardiovascular, Pulmonary, Endocrine, Hematology / Immunity, Neurology, Gastrointestinal, Renal, Multisystem, Behavior / Psychological and Professional Care and Ethical Practice. Each exam is age specific and a large percentage of each test focuses on clinical judgment. A smaller percentage of each test covers professional caring and ethical practice, which can address any age in the life span, in any of the tests.
